Charlottesville–Right Now with Coy Barefoot

Former Governor Jim Gilmore joined Coy Barefoot on the May 5 edition of WINA’s Charlottesville–Right Now to talk about his campaign for the Senate. Gilmore is competing with Delegate Bob Marshall for the Republican nomination for the seat being vacated by Senator John Warner. The GOP will decide at a convention later this month.

“We’ve been working hard to win this race,” said Gilmore, who was elected in 1997 and served for a brief time as the head of the Republican National Committee after leaving the Governor’s mansion. Now, he’s campaigning against the man replaced him, Mark Warner.

Aryana Khalid is Deputy Secretary of Health and Human Resources in the Commonwealth of Virginia. She joined Coy Barefoot on the April 30 edition of WINA’s “Charlottesville–Right Now!” Khalid is a graduate of the University of Virginia, and explains how her degree in systems engineering helped her launch a career in hospital administration. She also graduated from the Sorensen Institute for Political Leadership at UVa.

If passed, the Veterans Educational Assistance Act of 2007 (SB22) would provide financial assistance to service members who have served since 9/11/2001.

Sean Kotz of Horse Archer Productions is the director and co-producer of Virginia Creepers, a new documentary that explores the horror host tradition in Virginia. New River Valley based Horse Archer Productions was founded in 2005 by Kotz and his partner. Dick Dyszel played an integral role in Virginia’s horror heyday as host of Creature Feature, which aired Saturday nights on WDCA Channel 20 in D.C. Dyszel played Count Gore De Vol, Captain 20 and even Bozo for the station from 1973 to 1987. He was a guest on the show and answered questions from Coy Barefoot and Hawes Spencer of The Hook.
