WNRN Wake-Up Call: Local Politics

Host Rick Moore talks with Rodney Thomas (Albemarle County Board of Supervisors) about local politics; taxes, economic development, school funding and emergency services.  What needs would justify a tax increase?  Doesn’t cutting the County budget affect area families through those lost jobs?  How do we keep the schools so strong if we cut the budgets and trim the staff?

WNRN Wake-Up Call: Affordable Housing

Rick Moore (host) talks with Charlottesville Mayor Dave Norris about affordable housing. If someone pays more than 30% of their income on housing, then that is unaffordable housing. In the city of Charlottesville alone, more than 50% of residents have unaffordable housing. Why should government help provide affordable housing?  How can the major barrier of land cost be overcome?  The questions and more during the hour.  You can contact Dave Norris at cvilledave@hotmail.com
